Hello, friend! Driving is a part of our daily life. We drive to work, to the market, and to visit family. But the road is not always the same. Sometimes it is smooth, and sometimes it is full of problems. Do you remember your Odia Nana (me) ? He is a man with a lot experience on Moto Vlogging. He always have simple advice for difficult situations. His mantra is: “See everything, stay calm, and go slow.”
I am also a digital Marketer. If you want to ride with Odia Nana or want to promote your business then CONTACT ODIA NANA.
Let us learn some of Odia Nana‘s simple wisdom for driving on different roads.
1. Driving on a Smooth, Good Road

This is the best road. It is wide and smooth. But this is when we can become careless.
- Odia Nana’s Advice: “A straight road is a test of your mind.”
- What to Do:
- Keep Distance: Always keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Remember the 3-second rule: watch the car ahead pass a tree or a pole, and you should be able to count “one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three” before you pass the same spot.
- Check Your Speed: Do not go too fast just because the road is empty. Speed can be dangerous.
- Stay in Your Lane: Always drive in your correct lane.
2. Driving on a Bumpy or Broken Road

These roads are full of potholes and uneven surfaces. They can damage your car and make you lose control.
- Odia Nana’s Advice: “On a bumpy path, patience is your best friend.”
- What to Do:
- Slow Down: Reduce your speed before you enter the bad patch.
- Hold the Steering Tight: Hold the steering wheel with both hands. A pothole can pull the wheel from your hand.
- Look Ahead: Watch the road ahead to plan your path. Try to avoid the biggest potholes safely.
3. Driving on Wet or Muddy Roads

This happens during rains or in village areas. The road becomes slippery, and your car’s tyres can lose their grip.
- Odia Nana’s Advice: “On a slippery road, slow and steady wins the race.”
- What to Do:
- Go Very Slow: Drive much slower than you normally would.
- No Sudden Moves: Do not brake suddenly or turn the steering sharply. This can make the car slide. Press the brakes gently and early.
- Use Headlights: If it is raining, turn on your headlights so others can see you.
4. Driving on Hilly or Curvy Roads

Mountain roads have many sharp turns and steep slopes. You cannot see what is coming from the other side.
- Odia Nana’s Advice: “On a turning road, your horn is your voice.”
- What to Do:
- Slow Down Before the Turn: Reduce your speed before you enter a curve, not in the middle of it.
- Use Your Horn: When you approach a blind curve, press your horn lightly to let other vehicles know you are coming.
- Stay in Your Lane: Always stick to your side of the road, especially on turns.
5. Driving in Heavy Traffic (City Roads)

This is the most common problem. There are many cars, bikes, people, and animals all around.
- Odia Nana’s Advice: “In a crowd, eyes everywhere.”
- What to Do:
- Be Patient: Do not get angry or try to rush. It will not help.
- Check Mirrors: Keep checking your rear-view and side mirrors to know what is happening around you.
- Watch for Sudden Moves: Always be ready for someone to suddenly cross the road or change lanes without signal.
6. Driving in Fog or Low Light

When it is foggy or dark, your vision is poor. This is very risky.
- Odia Nana’s Advice: “If you can’t see, make sure you are seen.”
- What to Do:
- Use Dippers at Night: Use your low-beam headlights. High beams reflect off the fog and make it harder to see. For normal night driving, also use low beams when a vehicle is coming from the front.
- Go Very Slow: Drive at a speed where you can stop safely within the distance you can see ahead.
- Use Indicators: Signal early so vehicles behind you know what you plan to do.
The Final Mantra from Odia Nana
Just like our wise Odia Nana would say, the secret to handling any road is not just about skill, but about attitude. Stay calm, be patient, and think about safety first. Your family is waiting for you at home. Make sure you reach safely.
Happy and safe driving
